College Help?

Ok, well im half way through my highschool year as a sopre and its now time for me to decide where i want to go to college and what i want to go for but,,, i dont know where or what i want to go for! Im really interested in being a new york state trooper, going for something within the fields of computers because im really good at them, and some other things here and there, i also probably wouldnt mind doing cooking but that is at the very bottom of the check list. i do live in new york but WAY WAY(!!!!!) upstate. (I can see Canada!! haha) so its a small town and i have alot of family, i want to go far enough away because i love city life, my brother went to college at NJIT in new jersey so allways in NYC, I LOVE IT!!!. so i want tto go far enough away but not to far i cant come home on weeklong breaks. I am male, ny citizen, and wondering if you could help me decide what some good colleges are for(does not have to be nys unless the trooper i do believe and price is not an option
