I reformatted my computer and now no network connection appears. How do I fix this please?

I reformatted my desktop computer and installed Windows XP Pro, subsequently I installed the network card adapter driver (that I got from the manufacturer's website, Dynex PCI 10/100 Network Adapter), yet the "Local Area Connection" does NOT appear....I only see the "1394 Connection". Also I checked my device manager and I do have the yellow question mark beside "Ethernet Controller", but I do not understand this for I installed the network card driver. Please help. Thank you
