Can I dye my hair again?

I dyed my hair for the first time last night. My hair was a medium/dark brown. I was trying to dye it a burgundy/purple color and it went red. So, my hair is like a red on top but kinda brown on the bottom. I am not too happy with this color so I would like to go back to a dark brown. Is it safe just one time for me to dye my hair back to its normal color like later on today? Its just one time but I don't want any permanent damages or anything bad like that. please help me cuz i got school tomorrow and i cant stand having bad colored hair. thanks
