Why do people mention emo goth and punk in the same sentence?

Yeah. I'm hearing you.It's a clic case of N.F.I (no ****** idea) not so long ago the word EMO didn't even exist. Just another example of another new stupid word used to describe anything that appears punk/goth/dark or different, I 've loved dark/interesting stuff for over 12 yrs and younger people i know call me an emo. These days everything is so commercialised.Not many are aware of the roots of everything . No one can be different these days because its all the same and all spinning in a circle of fashion unfortunately. 80's fluro is back!!!!
